beautiful italian plaster projects with carrie Chimenti

Feb 3, 2024 | Plasters + Concrete, Project Features

Carrie Chimenti, a USA and Italy citizen, began her sculpting career in 1996 in Florence, Italy. She obtained a BFA in sculpture from Miami University and an MFA from American University. Afterward, she taught sculpture and worked with the world-renowned sculptor Beverly Pepper in Todi, Italy. In 2008, after completing an Italian plaster class, she started doing plaster molding restoration and contract work for other artistic wall and Italian plaster finishing companies in the USA.

Carrie travels frequently for her commissions, which include residential, commercial, and hospitality projects. While she now specializes in Italian plaster walls with a specialty in Venetian plaster, she also does one-of-a-kind artistic work, which could be Italian waxes, decorative plasters, decorative painting, glass beads, foiled walls, stenciled walls, faux finished walls, murals and low relief sculpted walls [or bas relief walls]. Carrie also works out of her studio sculpting on personal, commissioned, or charitable works while managing wall & ceiling projects through Chimenti Studios.

One of Carrie’s favorite products to work with is Mirror by Novacolor Italia. Mirror is a high-gloss Venetian Plaster for interiors and a natural lime plaster.

She says, “I enjoy all of the Novacolor Italia Venetian Plasters, especially Mirror, for the beautiful shine and marble-like look that you get from the plaster.” She continues, “I particularly like layering the mirror over Marmorino KS and using large troweling strokes for a more organic look, with less movement from Mirror.” That sounds like an incredible combination, especially since Marmorino KS is also a lime-based plaster coat. It achieves a cloudy, silky-matte aesthetic with a uniform finish.

Carrie finds quality and ease of use with all the Novacolor Italia products. “I have support in NYC, Miami, and Minneapolis, the distributors that I work with in the US. They have great catalogs, great finishers all over the world, great training, and resources!”.

We invite you to visit her website, Chimenti Studios, to read more about her artistry and see more of her work. She offers Italian Plaster and artistic wall and ceiling treatments in her home base of Wisconsin and beyond. Thank you, Carrie, for sharing your beautiful work with us!
