Arizona-based Tracy Browner of Venezia Design & Finish is an incredible artist known for her wide-ranging talent and unique approach to design. She has been creating a multiplicity of artistic treatments for walls, furniture, and almost any indoor or outdoor surface for over twenty years. While her passion and chief talent lies in the area of lush and varied treatments with Venetian plaster, Tracy has worked in the areas of custom fine art painting, faux finishes, gold and copper leaf, and mosaics throughout her career. We recently spied one of her gorgeous Novacolor Italia projects on Instagram, and knew we had to feature it here on the Novacolor Near Me blog.
Tracy says, “The powder room is the third project for my client’s new home and was designed to complement other projects that I had done previously. My client works as a sound healer, and has a zen lifestyle, which reflects in the beautiful design of the home.” Located just outside the powder room is a feature wall that holds a special piece of art. So, the finish in the powder room needed to complement the canvas, and not overpower it.
For the finish inspiration, Tracy’s client chose the exquisite “Broken Nature” panel in the Novacolor photobook. Broken Nature has four Novacolor products, including Metallo Fuso for the patterned ribbons, and the client wanted something simpler, yet similar. She gave three words that inspired her concept: subtle, sweet, and comforting.
“I landed on the product that would work perfectly with the bronze Metallo Fuso ribbon: Mi-Ku Therm,” shares Tracy. The Mi-Ku Therm was custom color tinted in a monochromatic way that speaks to the glass tile and sparkles in the sublime pendant lights. It also looks fab with the bronze Metallo Fuso ribbons, which complement the metal sink, faucet and framed mirror. Since they’re the same material as the art feature wall outside the powder room, everything flows nicely together.
I chose Mi-Ku Therm primarily for its smooth and subtle sparkle effect, yet it also thermally insulates the room and reduces its carbon footprint.
Tracy shares, “There’s a richness about Novacolor products that says they don’t cut corners in their production and that they use the best ingredients. It’s obvious to me in the installation of them. They move nicely, the way they’re supposed to move on the wall. There is an authenticity about them that lend to the final look of authentic effects, which is the primary role of decorative products, but secondarily, the company strives to produce more green and sustainable products.”
Isn’t the powder room project gorgeous? We absolutely love the calm contemporary feel, and the color palette is so beautiful. Tracy adds, “I was super happy to have found the combination of products that served the end goal with much success. This was about as wonderful a creative experience as one could ask for.”
